What are the ebike laws of AZ?

A. An operator of an electric bicycle or an electric standup scooter is subject to all the obligations and is given all the rights of a bicyclist.

An electric bicycle or an electric standup scooter is subject to the same requirements of this title as a bicycle, unless differently stated in this section or as otherwise governed by a local authority.

B. The requirements of this section relating to title certificates, registration, vehicle license tax, driving licenses, and vehicle insurance do not apply to electric bicycles or electric standup scooters.

C. As of January 1, 2019, producers and distributors of electric bicycles must permanently attach a label to each electric bicycle and place it in a visible place. 

The label must be printed in at least nine-point font and must include the classification number, maximum aided speed, and motor wattage of the electric bicycle.

D. Bicycle and multiuse pathways allow the use of class 1 electric bicycles, class 2 electric bicycles, and electric standup scooters. 

The operation of a class 1 electric bicycle, class 2 electric bicycle, or electric standup scooter on a bicycle or multiuse route may be prohibited by a municipal authority or state entity with jurisdiction over the path.

E. Unless it is inside or next to a highway or roadway, or unless the local government or agency of this state with jurisdiction over the route authorizes it, a class 3 electric bicycle may not be operated on a bicycle or multiuse path.

F. An electric standup scooter must have a distinctive identification that is visible from a distance of at least five feet and is made up of letters, numbers, or both.
